NOTIFICATION

Subject: -

Notification under section 19(1) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency

in Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 for acquisition of total

land measuring 18 Kanal 1 Marla situated at village Jethu Majra, Tehsil Nawanshahr,

District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar is to be acquired for construction of New Judicial

Courts Complex, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.

Whereas the Government of Punjab desires that the land is likely to be acquired at the public expense

for public purpose, namely acquisition of additional land for construction of New Judicial Courts Complex in the

area of village Jethu Majra, Tehsil Nawanshahr, District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.

Whereas, the appropriate Government is satisfied that there are sufficient reasons for acquisition of

additional land measuring 18 Kanal 1 Marla situated in village Jethu Majra, Tehsil Nawanshahr, District Shaheed

Bhagat Singh Nagar for the construction of New Judicial Courts Complex, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.

Whereas, the Government made this notification under the provisions of Section 19(1) of the Right to

Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 to all

whom it may concern. It is to be noted that Social Impact Assessment (SIA) of the proposed construction of

New Judicial Courts Complex in area of village Jethu Majra, Tehsil Nawanshahr, District Shaheed Bhagat Singh

Nagar is carried out as per Section 4 of the Act ibid. The SIA ascertains that no one would lose his house except

two affected families which would lose a few temporary structures on the land. The two project affected

families are likely to reconcile to new conditions subject to given adequate compensation given by the administration

under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement

Act, 2013. The SIA has been disclosed to the people and their representative as per section 6 of the Right to Fair

Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.

Whereas, on the basis of the indent placed by requiring body and after the approval of the Government,

the Collector Land Acquisition/Sub Divisional Magistrate, Nawanshahr issued a preliminary notification for said

land vide Notification no. HOME-JD-10MISC/8/2023-JUDICIAL-1 I/779642/2024 dated 09.02.2024, vide Letter

no 25 /ASDA Dated 20/02 /2024 for inviting the objections from the interested persons; and

Whereas, no objections were received within stipulated time, the Collector has provided opportunity of

being heard to all the objectors as required under section 15(2) of the said Act.

Whereas, the Department of Home Affairs and Justice had issued notification under section 11 on 9th

day of February, 2024. Accordingly, the issuance of declaration under section 19 of said act was to be made by

the 8th day of February, 2025 and the same is under consideration for issuance but on account of certain

Administration reasons some delay may occur. In view of the above, the Government of Punjab is satisfied that

the acquisition of the land is necessary in the public interest so the period of issuance of declaration under

section 19 needs extension to avoid lapse of all proceedings initiated under the Act ibid. the Department of

Justice had issued notification no HOME-JD-10MISC/8/2023-JUDICIAL-1 I/1030057/2025 dated 08.02.2025

under the sub-section(7) of section 19 of the said Act, and all other power enabling him in this behalf, the

Governor of Punjab was pleased to notify the extension in the period of publication of declaration under section

19 in respect of the above scheme or project from 08th day of February 2025 to 08th day of February 2026.

Whereas, the Government is satisfied after considering the report made by the collector that the land,

particulars of which are given below, is required for public purpose;
