NOTIFICATION

The 27th August, 2026

No.G.S.R.51/P.A.9/2026/S.88/Amd.(1)/2026.- In exercise of the

powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 88 of the Punjab Prisons and

Correctional Services Act, 2026 (Punjab Act No. 9 of 2026) and all other

powers enabling him in this behalf, the Governor of Punjab is pleased to further

amend the Punjab Prison Rules, 2022, namely: -

RULES

1.

(1) These rules may be called the Punjab Prison (Amendment)

Rules, 2026.

(2) They shall come into force on and with effect from the date of

their publication in the Official Gazette.

2.

In the Punjab Prison Rules, 2022 (hereinafter referred to as the said

rules), in rule 29.23, the sign and word “,leprosy” and the sign and

words “,district leprosy centre” shall be omitted;

3.

In the said rules, in rule 34.08, in clause (xv), for the word “leprosy”,

the words “any contagious disease” shall be substituted;

4.

In the said rules, in rule 39.13, in clause (iv), the sign and word

“,leprosy” shall be omitted.
