The 11th September, 2026

No.HOME-HM-50LAND/4/2026-4H5/107.- Whereas it appears to the Government of Punjab

that the land described in the specification given below, is needed by the Government of Punjab, at public

expense, for a public purpose, namely, for Construction of Lateral Roads (Roads parallel to Border

Fencing) along with Indo-Pak Border in Village Muthiawal, Chuggian Natha Singh, Chuggian Noor

Mohamad, Gajal, Ratoke, Machike, Mehndipur, Miyewal, Khemkarn, Kals, Mastgarh, Saktra, of District

Tarn Taran. For the said purpose, the State of Punjab has proposed to acquire 22659.9670 Sq. Mtr. land in

Village Muthiawal, Chuggian Natha Singh, Chuggian Noor Mohamad, Gajal, Ratoke, Machike,

Mehndipur, Miyewal, Khemkarn, Kals, Mastgarh, Saktra, Tehsil Patti, District Tarn Taran, namely:-

Whereas the Social Impact Assessment study for the above said purpose, has to be carried out in

village Muthiawal, Chuggian Natha Singh, Chuggian Noor Mohamad, Gajal, Ratoke, Machike,

Mehndipur, Miyewal, Khemkarn, Kals, Mastgarh, Saktra Tehsil Patti, District Tarn Taran, by the

Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology of the Panjab University, Chandigarh. The main

objective of carrying out the Social Impact Assessment study, is to assess the socio- economic indicators

of the project area and to prepare a Social Impact Management Plan, such as:-

(i)

to assess whether the proposed acquisition serves public purpose.,

(ii)

to assess the number of affected families and number of families among them likely to be displaced.,

(iii)

to understand extent of land public and private, houses, settlement and other common properties

likely to be affected by proposed acquisition.,

(iv)

the extent of and proposed for acquisition is the absolute bare-minimum extent needed for the

project.,

(v)

whether the land acquisition at an alternate place had been considered and found not feasible; and

(vi)

to study social Impact of the project and the nature and cost of addressing them and impact of

these costs on the overall costs of the project vis-a-vis the benefits of the project.

Now, therefore in exercise of the power conferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Right to

Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013

(Central Act No. 30 of 2013), and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Governor of Punjab is

pleased to direct the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology, Panjab University, Chandigarh to

carry out the Social Impact Assessment study in consultation with the Panchayat of Village Muthiawal,

Chuggian Natha Singh, Chuggian Noor Mohamad, Gajal, Ratoke, Machike, Mehndipur, Miyewal,

Khemkarn, Kals, Mastgarh, Saktra, Tehsil Patti, District Tarn Taran.

The Social Impact Assessment study shall commence from the date of this notification and shall

be completed within a period of six months.

Any person interested in the manner of Social Impact Assessment study, may contact the

Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
