Major Port Trusts (Payment of Fees and Allowances to Trustees) (Amendment) Rules, 2017

The following Notifi cation GSR No. 1471 (E), dated the 30th November 2017 issued by the Government of India,

Ministry of Shipping and published in Part II Section 3 sub-section (i) of the Extraordinary issue of the Gazette of India, dated

30th November 2017 is republished hereunder as required under Section 132(2) of the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963 :-

GSR No. 1471 (E). – Whereas the draft of the Major Port Trusts (Payment of Fees and Allowances to Trustees) Amendment

Rules, 2017 was published, as required by sub-section (2) of Section 122 of the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963 (38 of 1963) vide

notifi cation number G.S.R. 1067(E), dated the 28th August, 2017 in the Gazette of India, Part II, Section 3, sub-section (i), inviting

objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby before the expiry of forty-fi ve days from the date on which

copies of the Offi cial Gazette containing the said notifi cation were made available to the public;

And whereas the copies of the said Gazette were made available to the public on the 28th August, 2017;

And whereas no objections and suggestions have been received from the public within the time period specifi ed aforesaid;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of sub-section (1) of Section 122 of the Major Port Trusts

Act, 1963 (38 of 1963), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Major Port Trusts (Payment

of Fees and Allowances to Trustees) Rules, 1981, namely:-

1. Short title and Commencement.—(1) These rules may be called the Major Port Trusts (Payment of Fees and

Allowances to Trustees) (Amendment) Rules, 2017.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Offi cial Gazette.

2. In the Major Port Trusts (Payment of Fees and Allowances to Trustees) Rules, 1981, in rule 3,-

(a) in clause (i), for the words “rupees two hundred and fi fty”, the words “rupees three thousand” shall be substituted;

(b) in clause (ii), for the words “rupees hundred”, the words “rupees one thousand” shall be substituted;

(c) for the proviso, the following proviso shall be substituted, namely :—

“Provided that the aggregate amount of fees payable to any Trustee in respect of the meetings of the Board or the

Committees held during any calendar month shall not exceed rupees ten thousand”.
