PRESCRIPTION OF EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE FOR THE POST OF VICE-

CHANCELLOR IN THE TAMIL NADU AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY UNDER THE TAMIL NADU

AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2017.

In exercise of powers conferred by clause (ii) of sub-section (2-A) of Section 11 of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural

University Act, 1971 (Tamil Nadu Act 8 of 1971), the Government of Tamil Nadu in consultation with the Chancellor

of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, hereby specifi es that every person recommended by the Committee for

appointment as Vice-Chancellor shall possess the following educational qualifi cations and experience, namely:-

(a)

A Ph.D., Degree in agricultural subjects with basic degree in Agricultural Science.

(b)

Not less than 10 years of experience as Professor in a State or Central Agricultural University or

in both taken together.

(c)

Not less than six years of administrative experience in Universities or constituent Colleges or

publicly funded research institutions in positions such as Dean, Director, Head of the Department

or any other such administrative positions of equal or higher degree of responsibility or in all taken

together.

(d)

Must have published not less than 10 Research Papers as fi rst author (at least six months before

the constitution of Vice-Chancellor Search Committee) in the University Grants Commission/ Indian

Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) listed / National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS)

rated Journals after acquiring Ph.D.

(e)

Must have guided at least 5 successful Ph.D., Candidates.
