Senate from among its Members under Section 21(4) (a) of the T.N. Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, Act; 1987

(T.N.Act 37 of 1987).

Notice is hereby given that an election by direct polling is to be held “in the University premises for electing

One member to the Governing Council of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, as per clause (a)

of sub-section (4) of Section 21 of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, Act, 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act

37 of 1987) by the Senate from among its members to be ﬁ lled-up the arising vacancy. The term of membership in the

Governing Council will be for a residual period of one and half years from the date of publication of the results of the

election or the date on which he/she ceases to hold the post of Senate Member of this University whichever is earlier.

2. Forms of Nomination papers may be obtained from the Registrar (FAC), who is the returning oﬃ cer from

05-06-2019 to 21-06-2019 between 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. on all working days.

3. Nomination paper may be enclosed in an envelope addressed to the Registrar (FAC) I Returning Oﬃ cer and

superscribed “Nomination for election to the Governing Council” as indicated below, and sent by Registered Post

(Acknowledgement Due), so as to be received by the REGISTRAR I Returning Oﬃ cer not later than 4.00 p.m. on’

21.06.2019 or delivered to the Returning Oﬃ cer during oﬃ ce hours in person or by his proposer or by messenger

under acknowledgement within the date and hour mentioned above.

The nomination papers which are not sent by Registered Post with Acknowledgment Due or not delivered in person

by the nominee or by his proposer or by messenger as required above shall be declared invalid.

4. Nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at 4.15 p.m. on 21-06-2019.

5. List of valid nominations will be published at 5.00 p.m. on 21-06-2019 in the University premises.

6. A candidate may withdraw his candidature by notice in writing sent by Registered Post so as to reach the

Returning Oﬃ cer or delivered to the Returning Oﬃ cer or other person duly authorized by him/her under acknowledgement

not later than 3.00·p.m. on 28-06-2019. A candidate who has withdrawn his/her candidature shall not be allowed to

cancel the withdrawal or to be re-nominated as a candidate for the same election.

7. List of ﬁ nal valid nominations will be published by aﬃ xing the same on the notice board at the University

premises at 5.00 p.m. on 28-06-2019. A copy of Final list of valid nominations will be sent to the candidates.

8. Polling will be conducted in the premises of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University at

No. 69, Anna Salai, Guindy, Chennai-600 032 on 11-07-2019.

9. Scrutiny and counting of votes will be on 11-07-2019 and the result will be declared after the process is over.

Note:

1. The intimation of valid nominations would be sent to the candidates with a copy of the notiﬁ cation of the

programme for the election containing last date of withdrawal and date of poll, etc.

2. If, for example, the ﬁ nal valid nominations are only two and such candidates have not withdrawn their candidature

or where there “are more nominations and all the candidates except two have withdrawn their nominations in the

manner prescribed, within ‘the time ,speciﬁ ed for, withdrawal, such candidates shall be declared to be duly elected and

the result of the election will be published on the same day.
