NOTIFICATION CALLING UPON FOR 8. VELLORE PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCY IN THE

STATE OF TAMIL NADU TO ELECT MEMBER

The following Notifi cation of the Government of India, Ministry of Law and Justice (Legislative Department),

New Delhi-110 001, dated 11th July, 2019 [20 Ashadha, 1941 (Saka)] is republished:-

S.O. (E).––Whereas it was decided to hold the general election for constituting a new House of the People, on the

expiration of the term of Sixteenth House of the people;

And whereas in pursuance of the recommendation of the Election Commission, a notifi cation number 1389 (E),

dated 19th March, 2019 was issued by the President calling upon the Parliamentary Constituencies in the State of

Tamil Nadu to elect thirty nine Members which, inter-alia, included the 8-Vellore Parliamentary Constituency;

And whereas in pursuance of the recommendations of the Election Commission, a notifi cation number 1609 (E),

dated 16th April, 2019 was issued by the President partially rescinding the notification number 1389 (E),

dated 19th March, 2019, in so far as it relates to calling upon the 8-Vellore Parliamentary Constituency;

And whereas the Election Commission of India vide its proceedings dated 4th July, 2019 recommended to hold election

and issue of fresh notifi cation calling election from 8-Vellore Parliamentary Constituency of Tamil Nadu;

Now, therefore, in pursuance of sub-section (2) of Section 14 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951

(43 of 1951), the President is pleased to call upon the 8-Vellore Parliamentary Constituency in the State of Tamil Nadu to

elect the Member in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder.
