WHEREAS, in the Tamil Nadu Municipal Laws (Fifth Amendment) Ordinance, 2019 (Tamil Nadu Ordinance 8 of 2019), the
Government have issued amendment to the Tamil Nadu District Municipalities Act, 1920, Chennai City Municipal Corporation
Act, 1919, Madurai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1971, Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Act, 1981 relating to change
in the manner of election of Mayor of Corporations, Chairman of the Municipalities and Town Panchayats from Direct to
Indirect method.
NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred under paragraph 3 of the Tamil Nadu Local Bodies Election
Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 2019, the following amendments are issued to S.O.No.15/2019/TNSEC/ME1
dated 24.9.2019 published vide Notifi cation No.370 at page 1 of Part VI Section 2 of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette
Extraordinary dated 27th September 2019:-

“Sl.Nos.3 and 4 and expressions thereof shall be deleted”.

In pursuance of sub-rule (1) (b) of rule 47 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats (Elections) Rules, 1995 and
sub-rule (1) (b) of rule 67 of the Tamil Nadu Town Panchayats, Municipalities and Corporations (Elections) Rules,
2006 and in supersession of the Notification No.VI(2)/128(b-1)/2016, Published at Part VI – Section 2 of the
Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extraordinary No.227, Dated September 22, 2016, at page number 1, the Tamil Nadu
State Election Commission hereby directs that before delivering the ballot paper or ballot papers to the elector, or before
allowing to record his/her vote in EVM, indelible ink should be applied as a line from the top end of the nail to the
bottom of the fi rst joint of the left forefi nger as shown in the diagram below:
