In exercise of the powers conferred under rule 12, rule 15, rule 16 and rule 18 of the Tamil Nadu Town Panchayats,
Municipalities and Corporations (Elections) Rules, 2006 and in supersession of the Notifi cation No. VI(2)/46(b)/2019, published
at pages 1-9 of Part VI—Section 2 of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extra-Ordinary, No.194, dated the 3rd May, 2019, the
State Election Commission hereby directs that,-
1. The polling stations for the purpose of conducting poll under the said Rules shall be provided by adopting the polling
stations used in the recently held Parliamentary Elections and only in cases where it becomes absolutely necessary, changes as
per requirement of individual wards may be carried out to create new polling station taking into account the fi eld situation and in the
manner prescribed in the Instructions – 2016 issued in the form of Handbook titled @efh;g;g[w cs;shl;rpj; njh;jy;fs; ? ifnaL?1
? thf;Fr;rhtofs; mikg;gjw;fhd mwpt[iufs;?2016@;
2. The approved list of polling stations shall be published by the Returning Offi cer at the following places namely:-
(i)
Offi ce of the District Election Offi cer,
(ii)
Offi ce of the Town Panchayat, Municipality and Corporation
(iii)
such other places as the Returning Offi cer may consider necessary;
3. The number of names of electors to be included in any part of the electoral roll and the manner of preparing the electoral
roll, sketch of the polling station, the title and the specimen of the certifi cate to be given by the concerned Urban Local Body
Electoral Registration Offi cer at the end of each part shall be as indicated in the Annexure I, II(a), II (b), II (c), III, IV, V (a) and V (b)
respectively appended to this notifi cation;
4. The every part of the electoral roll shall have the sketch of the polling area enclosed next to the title page;
5. The electoral roll to be published shall be printed as directed by this Commission and the number of copies to be printed
shall be as indicated in the Annexure VI appended to this notifi cation ; and

6. Two copies of the electoral roll shall be supplied free of cost to the recognised political parties as notifi ed by this
Commission from time to time.

ANNEXURE - I
Number of parts in which the electoral roll of a ward shall be prepared:
1.
in a ward with voting strength around 1400 electors in
Town Panchayats / Municipalities / Corporations and where
only one polling station has been provided
In one part.
2.
in a ward voting strength exceeding 1400 electors in
Town Panchayats / Municipalities / Corporations but not
exceeding 2800 electors and where two polling stations
have been provided
(a) in one part, if one of the polling station is exclusively for
men electors and other is exclusively for women electors.
(b) in two parts, if both the polling stations are for all
electors.
3.
in a ward with voting strength exceeding 2800 electors in
Town Panchayats / Municipalities / Corporations but not
exceeding 4200 electors and where three polling stations
have been provided
(a) in two parts, if one of the polling stations is for all
electors and remaining two are for men and women
electors separately.
(b) in three parts, if all the three polling stations are
provided for all electors.
