Summer Vacation and Public Holidays for the year 2020.

In pursuance of the instructions of the High Court of Judicature, Madras in Official Memorandum in R.O.C.
No.88001-A/2019/C3, dated:11-12-2019, it is hereby notified that the Subordinate Civil Courts in Pudukkottai District will be
closed for Summer Vacation, Dussehra Holidays, Christmas Holidays and Public Holidays for the year 2020 as follows:-
I. (a) SUMMER VACATION:
The Principal District and Sessions Court, the Additional District
Court, the Principal Sub Court (Assistant Sessions Court),
Additional Sub Court (Assistant Sessions Court), Pudukkottai,
Sub Court (Assistant Sessions Court), Aranthangi, All the
District Munsif's Courts and only the Civil Unit of District
Munsif-cum-Judicial Magistrate Courts in Pudukottai District.
Will be closed from Friday, the 1st day of May, 2020 to
Sunday, the 31st day of May 2020 (both days inclusive).
(b) DUSSEHRA HOLIDAYS:
The Principal District and Sessions Court, the Additional District
Court, The Principal Sub Court (Assistant Sessions Court),
Additional Sub Court (Assistant Sessions Court), Pudukkottai,
Sub Court (Assistant Sessions Court), Aranthangi, All the
District Munsif"s Courts and only the Civil Unit of District
Munsif-cum-Judicial Magistrate Courts in Pudukkottai District.
Will be closed from Saturday, the 17th day of October, 2020
to Monday, the 26th day of October (both days inclusive).
(c) CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS:
The Principal District and Sessions Court, the Additional District
Court, The Principal Sub Court (Assistant Sessions Court),
Additional Sub Court (Assistant Sessions Court, Pudukkottai,
Sub Court (Assistant Sessions Court), Aranthangi, All the

Note:
1. As Republic Day (26-01-2020), Bakrid (01-08-2020), Independence Day (15-08-2020), Vinayakar Chathurthi
(22-08-2020), Muharram (30-08-2020), Ayutha Pooja (25-10-2020) and Deepavali (14-11-2020) fall on Saturdays / Sundays,
these are not shown in the above list.

The Saturdays falling on 04-01-2020, 01-02-2020, 07-03-2020, 25-04-2020, 06-06-2020, 04-07-2020,
05-09-2020,07-11-2020,21-11-2020 and 05-12-2020 are fixed as working days for the Subrodinate Courts. Except the
above Saturdays, all other Saturdays and Sundays are holidays.

The office of the Part Time official receiver, Tiruchirappalli which is having the jurisdication over Pudukkottai
District will remain open throughout the periods of adjournments.
4.
No Plaints, petitions etc., except copy applications and Batta memos for service and execution of Process will
be received during the periods of adjournments.
5.
The Offices of the Regular, Copyists and Process Service Establishments will be kept open throughout the
Summer Vacation, Dussehra Holidays and Christmas Holidays, but no arrest warrants will be executed during the said
periods.
6.
The Offices for other sections will remain opened for:-
a. furnishing necessary records to the Copyists and Process Service Establishments.
b. transmitting the records to the Appellate Courts for appeal etc.,
7.
The Vacation Civil Judge, who will be appointed by the Government for the District of Pudukkottai Under
Section 30 of the Tamil Nadu Civil Courts Act (Central Act III of 1873), ass amended by Sec.4 of the Tamil Nadu
Act 17 of 1959, will attend the disposal of urgent Civil work during Summer Vacation 2020, Civil Suits, Appeals and
proceedings in Civil Cases alone will be received and disposed off by him in terms of Section 30(c) of the above said
Act and the rules.
8.
During the periods of Summer Vacation, urgent applications for bail and other Sessions work will be attended
by the Vacation Sessions Judge to be appointed to preside over the Sessions Division, Pudukkottai, by the High Court,
under the powers conferred by Section 9(4) of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973.

Constitution of a District Munsif Court at Alangulam in Tirunelveli District

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 5 of the Tamil Nadu Civil Courts, Act, 1873 (Central Act III of
1873) the High Court, Madras, hereby fixes Alangulam in Tirunelveli District as the place at which the District Munsif
Court, Alangulam, shall be located.

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 11 of the Tamil Nadu Civil Courts Act, 1873 (Central Act III of 1873)
the High Court, Madras, hereby directs that in Tirunelveli District, the Principal District Munsif Court, Ambasamudram
shall cease to have local jurisdication over Kuthapanjan Village in Puthupatti Firka and entire Vengadampatti Firka of
Alangulam Taluk; the District Munsif-cum-Judicial Magistrate Court, Cheranmahadevi shall cease to have local jurisdiction
over entire Puthupatti Firka ((except Kuthapanjan Village) of Alangulam Taluk and the District Munsif Court, Tenkasi shall
cease to have local jurisdiction over entire Nettur Firka, Alangulam Firka and Keelapavoor Firka of Alangulam Taluk and
the District Munsif Court, Alangulam shall have and exercise local jurisdiction over the entire Taluk of Alangulam with
effect from the date on which the District Munsif, Alangulam assumes charge of that Court.

exercise all the powers conferred on a District Munsif under Section 12 of the Tamil Nadu Civil Courts Act, 1873 (Central
Act III of 1873) as amended up-to-date in regard to original suits and proceedings not otherwise exempted from his
cognizance of which the amount or value of the subject matter does not exceed One Lakh Rupees within the local
limits of his jurisdication with effect from the date on which the District Munsif, Alangulam assumes charge of that Court.

1873) the High Court, Madras, hereby directs that the District Munsif, Alangulam, shall have and exercise jurisdiction
of a Court of Small Causes under the Provincial Small Cause Courts Act, 1887 for the trial of suits cognizable by a
court of small causes upto the pecuniary limits of Rs.5000/- (Rupees five thousand only) with effect from the date on
which the District Munsif Court, Alangulam, assumes charge of that Court.
