WHEREAS, the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission appointed the Block Development Offi cers (Block Panchayat)

as the Panchayat Electoral Registration Offi cers for performing the functions specifi ed in sub-section (2) of Section 30 of

the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994) read with rule 7 and 14 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats

(Elections) Rules, 1995 for the purposes of preparing and publishing panchayat electoral rolls in respect of wards of panchayats

lying within their respective jurisdiction in connection with the conduct of Elections to Panchayats vide Tamil Nadu State

Election Commission's Statutory Order No.3/2019/TNSEC/PE-1, dated 10.4.2019 and the same has been published in the

Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extraordinary, issue No. 172, Part VI--Section 2, Dated the 12th April 2019 vide notifi cation

No. VI(2)/41(a-3)/2019;

WHEREAS, in the Government Orders 2nd read above, the Government have bifurcated the Villupuram District into

Villupuram and Kallakurichi Districts; the Tirunelveli District into Tirunelveli and Tenkasi Districts; the Kancheepuram District

into Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu Districts and trifurcated the Vellore District into Vellore, Tirupathur and Ranipet Districts

respectively;

WHEREAS, consequent on the bifurcation of Kancheepuram, Villupuram and Tirunelveli and trifurcation of Vellore

Districts, the Government in the Government Orders 3rd and 4th read above, have issued orders constituting the District

Panchayats for the newly constituted Districts;

AND WHEREAS, the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in its Order 5th read above granted extension of time to delimit

the nine newly constituted districts and directed to complete the entire process including publication/notifi cation of election

schedule and the result thereof before 15th September, 2021.

NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section 30 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats

Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994) read with rule 7 and 14 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats (Elections) Rules, 1995, the

Tamil Nadu State Election Commission hereby designates the Block Development Offi cers (Block Panchayat) of fi ve newly

constituted districts viz. Chengalpattu, Kallakurichi, Tenkasi, Ranipet and Tirupathur Districts as the Panchayat Electoral

Registration Offi cers for the purposes of preparing and publishing panchayat electoral rolls in respect of wards of panchayats

lying within their respective jurisdiction in connection with the conduct of Elections to panchayats.
