NOTIFICATION - I

No.VI(2)/109(a-1)/2021.

In exercise of the powers conferred by rule 8 of the Tamil Nadu Town Panchayats, Municipalities and Corporations

(Elections) Rules, 2006 and in supersession of the Notifi cation No.VI(2)/41(b-1)/2019, published at Page 1 of Part VI--Section-2

of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extraordinary No.173, dated 16th April, 2019, the State Election Commission hereby

authorises the Executive Offi cers of the respective Town Panchayats, or any other offi cer appointed by the State Election

Offi cer / District Election Offi cer as the case may be, as the Electoral Registration Offi cers for the purpose of preparing

and publishing electoral rolls in respect of the respective Town Panchayats, and the wards lying within the respective

Town Panchayats.

In exercise of the powers conferred by rule 8 of the Tamil Nadu Town Panchayats, Municipalities and Corporations (Elections)

Rules, 2006 and in supersession of the Notifi cation No.VI(2)/41(b-2)/2019, published at Page 1 of Part VI--Section 2 of the

Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extraordinary No.173, dated 16th April, 2019, the State Election Commission hereby authorises

the Commissioners of the respective Municipalities as the Electoral Registration Offi cers for the purpose of preparing and

publishing electoral rolls in respect of the respective Municipalities and the wards lying within the respective Municipalities.

Commission hereby authorises the Revenue Offi cer of the Chennai City Municipal Corporation as the Electoral Registration

Offi cer for the purpose of preparing and publishing electoral rolls in respect of the said Corporation and the wards

lying within the said Corporation.

Part VI--Section 2 of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extraordinary No.173, dated 16th April, 2019, the State Election

Commission hereby authorises the Commissioner of the Madurai City Municipal Corporation as the Electoral Registration Offi cer

for the purpose of preparing and publishing electoral rolls in respect of the said Corporation and the wards lying within the

said Corporation.

said Corporation.

and publishing electoral rolls in respect of the respective Corporations and the wards lying within the respective Corporations.

as the Electoral Registration Offi cers of the respective City Municipal Corporations for the purpose of preparing and

publishing electoral rolls in respect of the respective Corporations and the wards lying within the respective Corporations.

Part VI--Section 2 of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extraordinary No.69, dated 19th February, 2020, the State Election

Commission hereby authorises the Commissioner of the Avadi as the Electoral Registration Offi cer of the respective City

Municipal Corporation for the purpose of preparing and publishing electoral rolls in respect of the respective Corporations

and the wards lying within the respective Corporation.

In exercise of the powers conferred by rule 8 of the Tamil Nadu Town Panchayats, Municipalities and Corporations

(Elections) Rules, 2006, the State Election Commission hereby authorises the Commissioners of the Cuddalore, Kancheepuram

and Karur City Municipal Corporations as the Electoral Registration Offi cers of the respective City Municipal Corporations for

the purpose of preparing and publishing electoral rolls in respect of the respective Corporations and the wards lying within

the respective Corporations.

In exercise of the powers conferred under rule 9 of the Tamil Nadu Town Panchayats, Municipalities and Corporations

(Elections) Rules, 2006 and in supersession of the Notifi cation No.350 under No.VI (2)/82(a-2)/2019 published at Page 2 of

Part VI – Section 2 of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extraordinary, dated the 3rd September, 2019 and Notifi cation

No.91 under No.VI(2)/9(b)/2020 published at page 1 of Part VI – Section 2 of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette

Extraordinary, dated the 28th February, 2020, the Tamil Nadu State Election Commission hereby directs the District

Election Offi cers except in the District of Chennai to appoint within their respective jurisdictions the Executive Offi cer of the

Town Panchayat or the Commissioner of Municipality or City Municipal Corporation respectively or any other offi cer of the

Government as Returning Offi cer for the conduct of election to the Town Panchayat or Municipality or City Municipal Corporation,

as the case may be, under the said Rules.
