NOTIFICATION BY THE ELECTION AUTHORITY
SCHEDULE OF DATES FOR VARIOUS STAGES OF ELECTIONS TO CONSTITUTE
THE TAMIL NADU WAQF BOARD
No. II(2)/BCMBCMW/840(a)/2021.
Whereas the Government of Tamil Nadu has issued orders specifying the number of members to be
elected under the electoral college specifi ed in sub-section (1) of clause (b) of sub-clause (i) of Section 14 of
the Waqf Act, 1995.
2. Now, therefore the Election Authority calls upon the members of the following electoral college specifi ed in
column (2) of the table below to elect members to the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board, the number of members specifi ed in
the corresponding entry in column (3) of the Table against the electoral college:-

3. In exercise of the powers conferred by rule 8 of the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board (Conduct of Election for Members)
Rules, 1997 the Election Authority hereby notifi es the following with respect to the said election:-
(a) Filing of nomination commences on 06th December 2021 (Monday);
(b) the 08th December 2021 (Wednesday) as the last date for making nominations;

(c) the 09th December 2021 (Thursday) as the date for the Scrutiny of nominations;
(d) the 10th December 2021 (Friday) as the last date for withdrawal of candidature;
(e) the 13th December 2021 (Monday) as the date for publishing of fi nal list of contesting candidates;
(f)
the 15th December 2021 (Wednesday) as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken.
NOTICE OF ELECTION
Election of Members of the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board
Notice is hereby given that :-
An election is to be held for one member to the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board for the Electoral College consisting of
Muslim Members of Parliament from the State.
2. Nomination papers in Form–I may be delivered by a candidate whose name fi nds place in the fi nal electoral roll
to Thiru A.M. Aandiyappan, Returning Offi cer and Additional Secretary to Government, Backward Classes, Most Backward
Classes and Minorities Welfare Department, Chennai–9 or to Thiru G. Abdul Muheeth, Assistant Returning Offi cer
and Under Secretary to Government, Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department,
Chennai–9, between 11.00 A.M. and 3.00 P.M. on any day (other than Public Holidays) not later
than 8th December, 2021.
3. Forms of nomination papers may be obtained from 06.12.2021 (Monday) onwards at the place and time aforesaid.
4. The nomination of candidate belonging to the electoral college of Muslim Members of Parliament from the State
shall be proposed and seconded by members belonging to the respective electoral college; Provided that there is no
need for a proposer or seconder when total number of members belonging to the said electoral college is six or less
than six.
5. The proposer and the seconder shall belong to the electoral college of the candidate nominated.
6. Any member belonging to a particular electoral college may be subscribed either as proposer or as seconder to
as many nomination paper as there are vacancies to be fi lled to the said category, but not more.
7. A member of an electoral college shall contest, propose or second a candidate belonging to the said electoral
college only.
8. A member of an electoral college, who proposes or seconds the candidature of another member shall not be
eligible for himself contesting the election.
9. Any candidate may withdraw his candidature by a notice in writing as specifi ed in Form–III signed by him
may be delivered to either of the Offi cers specifi ed in the paragraph (2) above at his offi ce before 3.00 P.M.
on 10th December 2021.
10. If the number of candidates who were duly nominated and who have not withdrawn their candidature is equal to
the number of vacancies to be fi lled, the Election Authority shall declare all such candidates to have been duly elected.
11. If the number of candidates who were duly nominated and who have not withdrawn their candidature exceeds
the number of vacancies to be fi lled, the Election Authority shall cause notice to be given of the date and place of
poll and shall publish the fi nal list of the candidates contesting the election in his offi ce.
12. One copy of the fi nal electoral roll of the electoral college shall be supplied to the candidates contesting from
the said electoral college free of cost and additional copies if required on payment of cost as specifi ed by the Election
Authority from time to time.
13. No person who suff ers from any of the disqualifi cations under the Act shall be eligible to contest the election.

14. The Nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at 1.00 P.M. on 09th December 2021 at the Offi ce of the
Returning Offi cer and Additional Secretary to Government, Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities
Welfare Department, Chennai–9.
15. In the event of the election being conducted, the poll will be held on 15th December 2021 between
10.00 A.M. to 4.00 P.M. at the Offi ce of the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board, No. 1, Jaff er Syrang Street, Vallal Seethakkathi
Nagar, Chennai–600 001.
