DETERMINATION OF WARDS IN TOWN PANCHAYATS FOR THE RESERVATION TO THE PERSONS BELONGING

TO SCHEDULED CASTES, SCHEDULED TRIBES, WOMEN BELONGING TO SCHEDULED CASTES, SCHEDULED

TRIBES AND WOMEN.

WHEREAS in pursuance of the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in I.A.No.182868 of 2019 in Civil

Appeal Nos.5467-5469 of 2017, dated the 6th December 2019, based on the recommendations of the Delimitation

Commission constituted under the Tamil Nadu Delimitation Commission Act, 2017 (Tamil Nadu Act 23 of 2017), the

delimitation of territorial wards of Town Panchayats in the nine newly constituted districts of Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu,

Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupathur, Villupuram and Kallakurichi have been published in Commissioner of Town

Panchayats Notifi cation No.VI(2)/111(b)/2021 in Part VI - Section 2 of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, Extraordinary,

dated the 2nd November 2021.

AND WHEREAS, the Delimitation Commission has submitted its recommendations for reservation of seats in the

territorial wards of the Town Panchayats for the persons belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes,

Women belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and Women under section 4(1)(f) of the Tamil Nadu

Delimitation Commission Act, 2017 (Tamil Nadu Act 23 of 2017).

NOW, THEREFORE, under sub-sections (1), (2) and (3) of section 3-W of the Tamil Nadu District Municipalities Act,

1920 (Tamil Nadu Act V of 1920), read with rule 4 of the Tamil Nadu Town Panchayats, Municipalities and Corporations

(Delimitation of Wards or Divisions and Reservation) Rules, 1996 and as authorised by the Government in G.O.(Ms)

No.65, Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, dated the 7th August 2006, the Commissioner of Town

Panchayats hereby reserves the wards for the persons belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes,

Women belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and Women as specifi ed in the following amendments to

the Director of Town Panchayats, Notifi cation No.VI(2)/46(c)/2019, published in Part VI – Section 2 of the Tamil Nadu

Government Gazette, Extraordinary, dated the 24th May 2019:—
