NOTIFICATION OF MANDATING THE USE OF AADHAAR AUTHENTICATION SERVICES IN TAMIL NADU GENERATION

AND DISTRIBUTION CORPORATION LIMITED UNDER SECTION 7 OF THE AADHAAR (TARGETED DELIVERY OF

FINANCIAL AND OTHER SUBSIDIES, BENEFITS AND SERVICES) ACT, 2016 (CENTRAL ACT 18 OF 2016)

Notifi cation for use of Aadhaar under section 7 of the Aadhaar (Targeted delivery of fi nancial and other subsidies,

benefi ts and services) Act, 2016 (Central Act 18 of 2016) for enrolment of benefi ciaries under the policy direction of

Government of Tamil Nadu.

WHEREAS, as per the policy direction of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the orders of Hon’ble Tamil Nadu

Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited is implementing the

following schemes,-

(i)

First 100 units free bimonthly in all slabs and reduction in tariff above 100 units upto

200 units bimonthly for domestic consumers consuming upto 500 units bimonthly;

(ii)

Free supply of electricity for Hut consumers;

(iii)

Free supply of electricity for Agriculture purpose in respect of Low Tension and High

Tension Lift Irrigation;

(iv)

For all Low Tension Actual Places of Public Worship, reduction in tariff upto 120 units

bimonthly;

(v)

For power loom consumers, fi rst 750 units free bimonthly and reduction in tariff for

above 750 units bimonthly;

(vi)

For handloom consumers, fi rst 200 units free bimonthly and above 200 units bimonthly,

the corresponding slab in the Domestic tariff will apply.;

AND WHEREAS, the above said Schemes, implemented by Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation

Limited (TANGEDCO) are funded by the Government of Tamil Nadu, which involve expenditure from the Consolidated

Fund of the State;

NOW, THEREFORE, under section 7 of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefi ts

and Services) Act, 2016 (Central Act 18 of 2016), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby notifi es the following, namely,-

(1) An eligible individual desirous of availing benefi ts under the above Schemes is required to furnish proof of

possession of Aadhaar number or undergo Aadhaar authentication.

(2) An eligible individual desirous of availing benefi ts under the above Schemes, who does not possess an Aadhaar

number or has not yet enrolled for Aadhaar, is hereby required to apply for Aadhaar enrolment provided he or she is

entitled to obtain Aadhaar as per Section 3 of the said Act.

(3) The applicants are hereby requested to apply in any Aadhaar enrolment center or permanent enrolment center

(list available at www.uidai.gov.in) to get enrolled for Aadhaar:

Provided that till the time Aadhaar is assigned to the individual, benefi ts under the above Schemes shall be given

to such individuals subject to production of the following identifi cation documents, namely:-

(a)

(i)

If he or she has enrolled, his or her Aadhaar Enrolment Identity Slip;

(or)

(ii)

Copy of his or her request made for Aadhaar Enrolment.

(b)

Any one of the following documents, namely:-

(i)

Bank passbook with photograph; (or)

(ii)

Voter identity card issued by the Election Commission of India; (or)

(iii)

Ration card; (or)

(iv)

Permanent Account Number (PAN) Card issued by the Income Tax

Department; (or)

(v)

Indian Passport; (or)

(vi)

Driving Licence issued by the Licensing Authority under the Motor Vehicles

Act, 1988 (Central Act 59 of 1988); (or)

(vii)

Certifi cate of identity, bearing a passport size photograph of such member

issued by a Gazetted Offi cer on an Offi cial letter head; (or)

(viii)

Any other documents specifi ed by the Ministry of Electronics and

Information Technology, Government of India.

In order to avail the benefi ts in a convenient and hassle free manner by the benefi ciaries, the Tamil Nadu Generation

and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) shall make a wide publicity through electronic and Print media to

make benefi ciaries aware of the requirements of Aadhaar under the above schemes and they may be advised to get

themselves enrolled in the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centers available in their areas, in case they are not already

enrolled.
