Notice of Election

Notice of election of one Professor to the Senate of the Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R Medical University, Chennai by the

Teachers of all Affi liated Nursing Colleges from among themselves under Section 18(3)(c) of the Tamil Nadu

Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Chennai, Act 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act 37 of 1987).

Notice is hereby given that an election by postal voting is to be held for electing one Professor to the Senate of the

Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Chennai, as per clause (c) of sub-section (3) of Section 18 of The Tamil Nadu

Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Chennai, Act 1987 (Tamil Nadu Act 37 of 1987) by the Teachers of all Affi liated Nursing Colleges from

among themselves. The term of membership in the regular vacancy will be for a period of three years from the date of election or

upto the date on which he/she ceases to hold the post of Professor of an Affi liated Nursing Colleges, whichever is earlier.

(2) Forms of Nomination papers may be obtained from the offi ce of the undersigned from 23-11-2022 to 05-12-2022 between

11.00 a.m and 4.00 p.m. (on all working days)

(3) Nomination papers duly fi lled in shall be submitted in an envelope addressed to the Registrar / Returning Offi cer and

super scribed "Nomination for election to the Senate under Section 18 (3) (c)" as indicated below, by Registered Post with

Acknowledgement due so as to receive by the Registrar/Returning Offi cer, not later than 4.00 p.m. on 05-12-2022 or to be delivered

to the Returning Offi cer during offi ce hours in person or by his/her proposer or by messenger under acknowledgement within the

date and hour mentioned above.

The nomination papers which are not sent by Registered Post with Acknowledgement Due or are not delivered in person by

the nominee or by his /her proposer or by messenger, as required above, shall be declared invalid.

(4) Nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at 4.45 p.m. on 05-12-2022.

(5) List of valued nominations will be published at 5.30 p.m. on 05-12-2022 in the University premises.

(6) Notice of withdrawal of candidature made as per the General Statutes of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University is

on or before 3.00 p.m. on 12-12-2022.

(7) List of fi nal valid nominations will be published in the University premises at 5.30 p.m. on 12.12.2022. A copy of fi nal valid

nomination and the fi nal list of voters will be despatched to the candidates.

(8) A numbered declaration paper, a ballot paper with the name of the candidates bearing on it, the Returning Offi cer's initials,

a cover for sending Ballot Paper and an envelope containing the address of the Returning Offi cer will be sent to the address entered

against the name of the voter in the fi nal electoral roll through the Heads of the Institutions/College in which he/she is working, on

or before 23-12-2022 (Friday). No ballot paper will be issued in the offi ce to the voters on the day of election. The cover containing

the ballot paper and the declaration form in the envelope to be sent by Registered Post, so as to reach the Registrar /Returning

Offi cer not later than 4.00 p.m. on 09-01-2023 (Monday).

(9) The Voter may, either in person or by an agent, deposit the envelope addresses to the Returning Offi cer in the ballot box

provided for the purpose at the offi ce of the Returning Offi cer between till 4.00 p.m. on 09-01-2023 (Monday)

(10) Scrutiny and counting of votes and declaration of results will be from 10.30 a.m. on 12.01.2023 (Thursday) till the process

is over.

Note:-

1. The intimation of valid nominations would be sent to the candidates with a copy of the notifi cation of the programme for the

election containing last date of withdrawl and date of dispatching the ballot paper to the Returning Offi cer by post, etc.

2. If the number of candidates, who are validly nominated and who have not withdrawn their candidates in the manner

prescribed and within the time specifi ed, does not exceed or is less than the number of vacancies to be fi lled, such candidate shall

be declared to be duly elected.
