The following Act of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly
received the assent of the Governor on the 26th February 2024 and
is hereby published for general information:—
ACT No. 2 OF 2024.
An Act further to amend the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994.
Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
Tamil Nadu in the Seventy-fifth year of the Republic of India as
follows:—
Short title and
commencement.
Amendment of
section 239.
1.
(1) This Act may be called the Tamil Nadu Panchayats
(Third Amendment) Act, 2024.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
2.
In section 239 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994, in
sub-section (2), for clause (b), the following clause shall be substituted,
namely:—
“(b) The Tamil Nadu State Election Commissioner shall hold
office for a term of five years from the date on which he enters upon
his office or until he attains the age of sixty five years, whichever is
earlier and he shall not be eligible for reappointment.”.

The following Act of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly
received the assent of the Governor on the 26th February 2024 and
is hereby published for general information:—
ACT No. 4 OF 2024
1. This Act may be called the Tamil Nadu Appropriation Act, 2024.
2. The State Government may appropriate out of the Consolidated Fund of the State for the
services and purposes of the financial year which commenced on the 1st day of April 2023, a further
sum not exceeding Thirty Thousand Three Hundred Fifty-Five Crores Thirty-One Lakhs
Seventy-One Thousand rupees, being moneys required to meet-
the supplementary grants made by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly for that year,
as set forth in column (3) of the Scheduleand
Short title.
