HOME, PROHIBITION AND EXCISE DEPARTMENT
AMENDMENTS TO NOTIFICATION UNDER THE TAMIL NADU PROHIBITION ACT, 1937

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 18-B of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937
(Tamil Nadu Act X of 1937), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendments to the
Prohibition and Excise Department Notification No.II(1)/PE/239(d)/81, published at page 2 of Part II-Section 1 of the
Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extraordinary, dated the 1st May 1981, as subsequently amended.
2. The amendments hereby made shall come into force on the 1st March, 2024.
Amendments
In the said Notification, in the TABLE, under the entry "Indian Made Foreign Spirits (brand names of which are
specified in the Annexure) other than sacramental wine" in column (1),-
(1) under the heading "(i) ORDINARY BRANDS", for the expression "which does not exceed
Rs.780 per case in respect of brands manufactured in the State", the expression "which does not
exceed Rs.924 per case in respect of brands manufactured in the State" shall be substituted;
(2) under the heading "(ii) MEDIUM BRANDS", for the expression "between Rs.781 to Rs.849 per case
in respect of brands manufactured in the State", the expression "between Rs.925 to Rs.993 per case
in respect of brands manufactured in the State" shall be substituted; and
