TAMIL NADU STATE COMMISSION FOR THE SCHEDULED CASTES AND

SCHEDULED TRIBES – ORDERS - ISSUED.]

Order:- No. 80, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare (ADW-6), dated 3rd October 2024.

In the reference first read above, the Tamil Nadu State Commission for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes

Act, 2021 (Tamil Nadu Act 17 of 2021) was enacted.

2. In the Government Order second read above, Justice Thiru. P.R. Shivakumar was appointed as Chairperson

among other officials in the Tamil Nadu State Commission for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

3. In the Government Order third read above, Government have issued orders for cessation of office in respect of

Justice Thiru. P.R. Shivakumar, Chairperson, Tamil Nadu State Commission for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled

Tribes on the afternoon of 11.05.2024 after attaining the age of seventy years.

4. In the Amendment Act fourth read above, the age limit of Chairperson to hold office in the Tamil Nadu State

Commission for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes has been increased to seventy five years.

5.  The Government after careful consideration, hereby appoints Dr. Justice S. Tamilvanan, former Judge of

High Court of Madras as Chairperson of the Tamil Nadu State Commission for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled

Tribes for a period of three years or till he attains the age of seventy five years, whichever is earlier, with effect from the

date of assumption of charge.
