The Government of Tamil Nadu record with deep and profound regret the untimely death of one of its Senior

Officers, Dr. Beela Venkatesan, IAS., (TN: 1997) formerly Principal Secretary to Government, Energy Department,

Secretariat, Chennai on 24.09.2025 at the age of 55 years.

2. She was appointed to the Indian Administrative Service on 07th September, 1997. She started her career

as Assistant Magistrate & Assistant Collector, Bhojpur, Bihar. She held various posts including Under Secretary to

Government, Finance Department, Patna, Bihar, Sub Collector, Chengalpattu, Special Officer, Chief Minister's Special

Cell, Chennai; Additional Director, Social Welfare, Chennai, Deputy Secretary to Government, Adi Dravidar and Tribal

Welfare Department, Chennai, Director, Secondary Education, Human Resources Development, Jharkhand, Joint

Secretary to Government, Chief Minister's Secretariat, Jharkhand; Deputy Commissioner, Dhanbad, District Collector,

Dhanbad; General Manager, Government of India, Handicrafts & Handloom Export Corporation of India and Executive

Director (GOI), M/o Textiles, Handloom Export Promotion Council,' Commissioner, Town and Country Planning, Chennai;

Secretary to Government, Health and Family Welfare Department, Chennai, Principal Secretary to Government,

Commercial Taxes and Registration Department, Chennai, Principal Secretary / Commissioner, Handlooms and Textiles,

In the death of Dr. Beela Venkatesan, IAS., the Government of Tamil Nadu have lost one of its senior officers.
