The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India has passed an order dated 18.11.2025 in W.P.(C). No. 1319/2023

(M. Varadhan -Vs- Union of India & others) to conduct Election to the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry

by constituting High Powered Election Committee. In compliance to the order passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court

of India, election to the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry was held on 30.03.2026 and the counting process

completed on 21.07.2026. The Hon’ble Mr. Justice K.N. Basha (Former Judge), Returning Officer, Bar Council has

submitted the list of Elected Candidates addressing to the Secretary, Bar Council and to the High Powered Election

Committee. The Advocate General, State of Tamil Nadu, has approved the list of declared elected candidates on

23.07.2026. The following Members are duly elected as Members of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry,

including the representation for the women candidates as per the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, from the

reserved list of such Candidates.
