PROHIBITION OF STRIKES BY THE EMPLOYEES OF HYDERABAD METROPOLITAN WATER

SUPPLY AND SEWERAGE BOARD - UNDER THE TELANGANA ESSENTIAL SERVICES

MAINTENANCE ACT, 1971.

Whereas, the services connected with the affairs of the State in relation to the maintenance of water supply

and distribution thereof is and essential service as defined in Section 2(1)(a)(i) of the Telangana Essential Services

Maintenance Act, 1971 (as adopted in the Telangana Adaptations of Laws Order, 2016 vide G.O.Ms.No.45, Law (F)

Dept., dt. 01.06.2016).

And whereas, the Government have prohibited strikes in Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage

Board for a period of six months vide notification issued in G.O.Rt.No.198, Municipal Administration and Urban

Development (Engg.) Department, Dated: 29.3.2018 with effect from 21.4.2018. The said period of six months

expired on 20.10.2018.

And whereas, the Government have satisfied in public interest that it is necessary and expendient to prohibit

strikes in the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board for a further period of six months.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the Telangana Essential

Services Maintenance Act, 1971 (as adopted in the Telangana Adaptations of Laws Order, 2016 vide G.O.Ms.No.45,

Law (F) Dept., dt.01.06.2016), the Government of Telangana hereby prohibits strikes in all services connected with

the maintenance of Water Supply and distribution in the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board

for a further period of six months w.e.f 21.10.2018.

The Managing Director, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board, Hyderabad shall take

necessary action accordingly.
