THE TELANGANA PANCHAYAT RAJ ACT, 2018 (TELANGANA ACT No.5 OF 2018) - APPOINTMENT OF

SPECIAL OFFICERS TO THE MANDAL PRAJA PARISHADS.

i)

Whereas, the term of office of the Members and Office bearers elected in accordance with the provisions

of clause (ii) of section 149 of the Telangana Panchayat Raj Act, 2018 (Telangana Act No.5 of 2018) in all

Mandal Praja Parishads in the State is expiring on 03.07.2024 except all MPPs in Khammam District, all

MPPs in Bhadradri Kothagudem District, Jadcherla MPP in Mahabubnagar District, Nagarkurnool MPP

in Nagarkurnool District, Garla & Bayyaram MPPs in Mahabubabad District, Wajeedu, Venkatapuram

and Mangapet MPPs in Mulugu Districts.

ii)

And whereas, the Government is empowered under sub-section (1) of section 269 of the Telangana

Panchayat Raj Act, 2018 (Telangana Act No.5 of 2018) to appoint Special Officer or Person-In-charge or

a Committee of Persons-In-charge to the Mandal Praja Parishad to exercise the powers, discharge the

duties and perform the functions of the Mandal Praja Parishad until the Members, the President and Vice-

President of Mandal Praja Parishad elected assume office.

iii)

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 269 of the Telangana

Panchayat Raj Act, 2018 (Telangana Act No.5 of 2018), the Government hereby authorize the concerned

Collector and District Magistrate of the District to appoint an officer from the District Level Officers,

Deputy Directors, Revenue Divisional Officers and other officers from the District (excluding the

Engineers), who are atleast one rank above the Mandal Parishad Development Officers as Special Officers

to the Mandal Praja Parishads in their jurisdiction and instruct the Special Officers so appointed to take

the charge of the office immediately after the expiry of term of the elected President of the Mandal Praja

Parishads.

The Collectors and District Magistrates in the State are therefore requested to issue necessary orders in this

regard and intimate the same to the Government forthwith.

SPECIAL OFFICERS TO THE ZILLA PRAJA PARISHADS.

i)

Whereas, the term of office of the Members and Office bearers of the Zilla Praja Parishads elected in

accordance with the provisions of section 178 of the Telangana Panchayat Raj Act, 2018 (Telangana Act

No.5 of 2018), is expiring on 04.07.2024 except Zilla Praja Parishads of Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem,

Mahabubabad & Mulugu Districts.

ii)

And whereas, Government is empowered under section 269 of the Telangana Panchayat Raj Act, 2018

(Telangana Act No.5 of 2018) to appoint Special Officer or Person-In-charge or a Committee of

Persons-In-charge to the Zilla Praja Parishad to exercise the powers, discharge the duties and perform the

functions of the Zilla Praja Parishad until the Members, the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Zilla Praja

Parishad elected assume office.

iii)

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 269 of the Telangana

Panchayat Raj Act, 2018 (Telangana Act No.5 of 2018), the Government hereby appoint the Collector and

District Magistrate of the District as Special Officer to the concerned Zilla Praja Parishad in the State for

a period of six months with effect from 05.07.2024 or till the date of assumption of office of the Members

and Office bearers of Zilla Praja Parishad elected in the State except the Zilla Praja Parishads of Khammam,

Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad & Mulugu Districts.
