REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE ACT, 1951 (CENTRAL ACT No. 43 OF 1951) BY THE

GOVERNOR OF TELANGANA.

WHEREAS, the seat of M.S. Prabhakar Rao, member of the Legislative Council of the

State of Telangana from Hyderabad Local Authorities’ Constituency, is going to become vacant on

01-05-2025, on the expiration of his term of office; and

WHEREAS, a biennial election has to be held for the purpose of filling the above said vacancy

so arising; and

WHEREAS, the term of office of the member to be elected to the State Legislative Council

from the said Local Authorities’ Constituency shall be subject to the decision of the Hon’ble

Supreme Court of India in SLP (C) No. 17123/2015 (Election Commission of India Vs Devesh

Chandra Thakur & Others);

NOW, THEREFORE, in pursuance of Section 16 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951

(Central Act No. 43 of 1951), the Election Commission of India hereby recommends the

28^th March, 2025 (Friday), as the date on which the Governor of the State of Telangana may, by

notification published in the official Gazette of the State on the said date, be pleased to call upon

the aforesaid Local Authorities’ Constituency, to elect one member to the Legislative Council of

the State, for the purpose of filling the above said vacancy, in accordance with the provisions of the

said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder.

The following Notification of the Election Commission of India, Nirvachan Sadan, Ashoka Road,

New Delhi, Dated: 28^th March, 2025, Magha 07, 1947 (Saka) is published:-

NOTIFICATION

No. 322/TL-LC-LAC/2025 :- WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of Telangana has, by

notification issued under Section 16 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951)

and published in the official Gazette of the State on 28^th March, 2025, been pleased to call upon

Hyderabad Local Authorities’ Constituency, to elect one member to the Legislative Council of the

State of Telangana :-

Now, THEREFORE, in pursuance of Section 30 and Section 56 of the Representation of

the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), the Election Commission of India hereby –

(A) appoints, with respect to the said election, –

(a) the 04^th April, 2025 (Friday), as the last date for making nominations;

(b) the 07^th April, 2025 (Monday), as the date for the scrutiny of nominations;

(c) the 09^th April, 2025 (Wednesday), as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures;

(d) the 23^rd April, 2025 (Wednesday), as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken; and

(e) the 29^th April, 2025 (Tuesday), as the date before which the election shall be completed; and

(B) fixes the hours from 08:00 am to 04:00 pm, as the hours during which the poll shall, if

necessary, be taken on the date specified above for the election.
