2(e) of the Goa Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat
(Election Procedure) Rules, 1996, I, R. K. Srivastava,
IAS (Retd), Commissioner of Goa State Election

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me
vide Rule 5 of the Goa Panchayat and Zilla
Panchayat (Election Procedure) Rules, 1996, I, R. K.
Srivastava, IAS (Retd), Commissioner of Goa State
Election Commission is hereby notify that the
electoral rolls of the Goa Legislative Assembly
prepared under the provisions of the Represen-
tation of People Act, 1950 (Central Act 43 of 1951)
for the time being in force as on 1st January, 2017
(published on 19th January, 2017) for such
Constituency of the Assembly or any part thereof
as is included in the area within the jurisdiction of
the Village Panchayat shall be adopted for the
purpose of preparation of electoral roll for ensuing
bye-election to Ward No. II of Village Panchayat,
Cana-Benaulim (General) in Salcete Taluka.

Section 203 of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994
(Goa Act 14 of 1994), I, R. K. Srivastava, IAS (Retd),
Goa State Election Commissioner hereby
appoint the Mamlatdar of Salcete Taluka as the
“Requisitioning Authority” and authorise him to
requisition premise, vehicle etc. for the purpose of
bye-election to Ward No. II of Village Panchayat
Cana-Benaulim (General) in Salcete Taluka.

(i) A voter in a ward is entitled to cast only
one vote.
(ii) Form of nomination paper will be available
in the office of the Returning Officer during
office hours. The Mamlatdar of the respective
Taluka has been appointed as the Returning
Officer.
(iii) In case of general seat, a sum of Rs. 100/- and
in case of seat reserved for a woman or a
person belonging to Scheduled Castes/
/Scheduled Tribes/Backward Classes, a sum
of Rs. 50/- is required to be deposited with the
Returning Officer on or before the date fixed
for receiving the nomination papers.

Whereas the bye-election to Ward No. II of
Village Panchayat, Cana-Benaulim (General) in
Salcete Taluka in the State of Goa is scheduled to
be held on 5-03-2017.
And whereas this State Election Commission
will issue a public written Notice in Form 2 of the
intended election as required under Rule 10(3) of
the Goa Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat (Election
Procedure) Rules, 1996.
Now therefore, this State Election Commission
in exercise of the powers conferred upon it under
Article 243K of the Constitution of India and Section
237 of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 read with
Rule 10(2)(i) of the Goa Panchayat and Zilla
Panchayat (Election Procedure) Rules, 1996 do
hereby notify that the nomination papers of
candidates in respect of bye-election to Ward No.
II of Village Panchayat, Cana-Benaulim (General)
in Salcete Taluka is going to poll on 5th March,
2017, shall be accepted by the respective notified
place from 13th February, 2017 to 20th February,
2017 from 10.00 hrs. to 13.00 hrs. except on 19th
February, 2017 being Sunday.
