In exercise of the powers conferred on me

under Section 115 & 116 of the Motor Vehicles Act,

1988, and as proposed by the Goa State

Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited,

Panaji and as recommended by the Dy. Superin-

tendent of Police (Traffic), Panaji and in view of the

ongoing construction work of third bridge across

Mandovi River, I, Nila Mohanan, IAS, District

Magistrate, North Goa hereby order the closure of

Old Mandovi Bridge for all types of vehicular traffic

during night time only from 22:00 hrs. to 06:00 hrs.

on the days when the work of concreting operation

of third Mandovi Bridge are taken up, subject to

the following conditions:

1. The GSIDC/Contractor shall comply with the

Notification No. 23/5/Tiswadi/Mag/89/IV/610

dated 22-07-1994 issued by this office

notifying the maximum permissible gross

laden weight for vehicles on old Mandovi

Bridge as 10 tonnes.

2. During the period of road closure, the traffic

will be diverted on new Mandovi Bridge and

the heavy vehicles will be diverted at

Karaswada Junction and at Banastarim

Junction to take alternate route.

3. The GSIDC/Contractor shall erect and display

sufficient traffic signages at all prominent

places for the information of the motorist and

road users.

4. The GSIDC/Contractor shall make wide

publicity of this order through publication in

the local dailies as also through print media.

5. The prior permission from District Police to be

obtained.

6. The GSIDC/Contractor shall strictly adhere to

the above timings.

7. The GSIDC/Contractor shall inform the Traffic

Police atleast 2 days in advance before the

closure is effected to facilitate and plan the

closure.

The above traffic arrangements shall be effective

till the completion of work.

Further, in exercise of the powers conferred on

me under Section 116 of the above Act, I also

authorise the erection of traffic signboards in order

to regulate the motor vehicular traffic.

The Managing Director, Goa State Infrastructure

Development Corporation Limited, Panaji is directed

to publish this notification through the Director of

Information and Publicity in newspapers and to

make necessary arrangement to erect the

signboards at the places indicated above

immediately and report compliance within fifteen

days time. He should also intimate Traffic Police

atleast 2 days in advance before commencing the

concreting operations to facilitate proper planning.

Satari and PWD are directed to publish this

notification through the Director of Information and

Publicity in newspapers and to make necessary

arrangements to construct the speed breaker and

erect the signboard at the place indicated above as

per the specification laid down by the Ministry of

Road Transport and Highways and as published in

the Official Gazette by the Government of Goa and

report compliance within fifteen days time.
