________

Notification

No. 1/1/17/2018-RD/1316

It has been noticed, time and again that the

various Works Departments of the Government of

Goa take up road-digging works haphazardly and

without proper prior intimation to sister agencies

as well as the members of the public. As a result,

there are often instances of public inconvenience

as well as damage caused to the cables and other

assets of the Departments due to rampant road

digging works.

2. Hence a need is felt for proper co-ordination

amongst the Works Departments, so that proper

planning and systematic execution, with all

concerned departments appraised of the schedule

of road digging, can be achieved.

3. Now, therefore, as per the approval of the

Government, the Revenue Department hereby

notifies and sets up the District level Road

Digging Co-ordination Committee under the

Chairpersonship of the District Magistrate in both

the Districts of the State. The composition of the

Committee is as follows:-

i) District Magistrate

4. The Terms of Reference of the Committee are

as below:-

a) To consider all proposals submitted by the

respective Works Departments for road

digging or road-cutting and grant approvals

after discussion.

b) To ensure that proper co-ordination is there

between the various Works Departments

in planning and executing works.

c) To avoid duplication of work by dovetailing

the road digging works of departments,

so that road digging or cutting can be

undertaken for multiple works in one go.

d) To alert all concerned departments to

maintain vigil during the approved period

of work so that their departmental assets

are not damaged.

5. The committee will meet as and when

proposals for road digging are submitted to the

offices of the respective District Magistrates. Once

the committee is constituted, prior approval of the

committee will be mandatory before the

commencement of the work.

6. This will come into force with immediate

effect.
