Whereas, it has been brought to the notice of the

undersigned by the Director of Animal Husbandry &

Veterinary Services of Government of Goa that the

Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) is a contagious viral

disease which primarily affects cows and buffaloes

and which spreads rapidly through vectors. It

spreads through bite of mosquitoes, stable flies and

ticks. It can also spread through saliva and

contaminated feed and fodder of affected animals.

The disease spread more rapidly in warm and moist

conditions.

Whereas, further, the Director of Animal

Husbandry & Veterinary Services of Government of

Goa informed that incidence of outbreak of Lumpy

Skin Disease (LSD) among the Dairy animals in the

neighboring States of Maharashtra, Karnataka,

Gujarat, Rajasthan and also in few other States of

India;

And whereas, on perusal of the facts brought to

light by the Director of Animal Husbandry &

that there is a serious risk to the health of the people

in North Goa District if the transportation and entry

of livestock such as Cattle and Buffalo from

neighbouring States and few other States from where

livestock are brought, are not stopped forthwith.
