Whereas the draft Rules of the Goa

Panchayat (Payment of salaries and

allowances to the Sarpanch, Deputy

Sarpanch, elected and co-opted Members of

Village Panchayat) (Fourth Amendment)

Rules, 2024 were pre-published as required

by sub-section (1) of section 240 of the Goa

Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 (Goa Act 14 of 1994)

in the Official Gazette, Series I No. 41 dated

18-07-2024 under Notification No. 19/105/DP/

/PAN/HON/2024/6153 dated 18-07-2024 of the

Department of Panchayati Raj and Community

Development inviting objection & suggestions

from all persons likely to be affected thereby

before the expiry of fifteen days from the date

of publication of this Notification in the Official

Gazette.

And whereas the said Gazette was made

available to the public on 18-07-2024.

And whereas no objections/suggestions

have been received from the public on the

said draft by the Government.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers

conferred by sub-section (2) of section 48

read with sub-section (2) of section 162 and

sub-section (1) of section 240 of the Goa

Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 (Goa Act 14 of 1994),

the Government of Goa hereby makes the

following rules so as to further amend the

Goa Panchayat (Payment of salaries and

allowances to the Sarpanch, Deputy

Sarpanch, elected and co-opted Members of

Village Panchayat) Rules, 2002, namely:—

1. Short title and commencement.— (1)

These rules may be called the Goa Panchayat

(Payment of salaries and allowances to the

Sarpanch, Deputy Sarpanch, elected and

co-opted Members of Village Panchayat)

(Fourth Amendment) Rules, 2024.

(2) They shall come into force on the date

of their final publication in the Official Gazette.

2. Amendment of rule 3.— In rule 3 of the

Goa Panchayat (Payment of salaries and

allowances to the Sarpanch, Deputy

Sarpanch, elected and co-opted Members of

Village Panchayat) Rules, 2002 (hereinafter

referred to as the “principal Rules”),—

(i) in sub-rule (1), for the words “rupees

three thousand”, the words “rupees four

thousand” shall be substituted;

(ii) in sub-rule (2), for the words “rupees

three thousand”, the words “rupees four

thousand” shall be substituted;

(iii) in sub-rule (3), for the words “rupees

three thousand”, the words “rupees four

thousand” shall be substituted.

3. Amendment of rule 4.— In rule 4 of the

principal Rules,—

(i) in sub-rule (1), for the words “rupees

three thousand”, the words “rupees four

thousand” shall be substituted;

(ii) in sub-rule (2), for the words “rupees

two thousand two hundred and fifty”, the

words “rupees two thousand and five

hundred” shall be substituted.
