The 1stOctober 2008

S.O. 319, dated 3^rd December 2008.--In exercise of the powers conferred by

clause (b) of sub-section(1) of Section-3 of the Minimum Wages Act,1948 (11 of 1948)

read with sub-section (2) of section 5 of the said Act and after having considered all the

representation Fixed on the proposal notified under clause(b) of Sub-section (1) of

Section-5 of the said Act and also after consulting the Bihar Minimum Wages Advisory

Board, the Governor of Bihar is pleased to propose the Minimum Rates of wages fixed

in Labour Resources Department's by notification no. S.O. 72 dated 08.07.08 for certain

categories of employees employed in the following Employment in the State of Bihar, as

specified in column 3 of the Schedule hereto annexed against each such category of

employees specified in the corresponding entry in column-2 thereof, which shall be

payable in the whole of the State of Bihar to such different categories of employees

employed in the said employments

2. The Minimum rates of wages so Fixed shall be within the meaning of clause (iii) of

sub-section(a) of section-4 of the said Act.

3. This notification shall come into force with effect from the date of its issue.

consumer price Index Number (1960 -100) 3043-45 which is the average of the indices

of the Second half of the year, 2007(July-December)

(b) Conversion of the monthly rates of wages into daily rates of wages and vice-

versa shall be worked out by dividing the monthly rates by 26 and by multiplying the

daily rates by 26.

overtime payment at the rate prescribed in rule 25 of Bihar Minimum Wages Rule, 1951.

Explanation

(a):- "Unskilled " mean work which involves simple operation requiring little or

no skill or experience on the job.

(b) "Semi-skill" work means work which involves some degree of skill or

competence acquired through experience on the job and which is capable of being

performed under the supervision or guidance of a skilled employee and includes

unskilled supervisory work.

institute and the performance of which calls for mutative and judgment.

(d)" Highly Skilled Work" means work which calls for a degree of perfection and

full competence in performance of certain tasks, acquired though intensive technical or

execution of these tasks.
