The 23rd February 2010

S.O. 28 dated 23rd February 2010—Whereas vide Home (Special) Department

Notification No. 271/HSC dated 26^th February 2006, the Governor of Bihar was pleased

to constitute a judicial enquiry, Commission for Enquiry into the communal disturbance

that had occurred in and around Bhagalpur from 24^th Oct. 1989 to 1990 under the

commission of enquiry Act, 1952 (No. 60, 1952). The term of Commission was fixed from

6^th months from the date of notification i.e. 26th February 2006 to 25th August 2006.

The Governor of Bihar was pleased to appoint Shree N.N.Singh(Retd.) Hon’ble Justice to

Patna High Court, Patna as its chairman. The term of commission was extended vide

notification number 13415 dt. 20th September 2006, 4007 dt 5th April 2007, 3005 dt.

17th March 2008, 2081 dt. 9th April 2009 and 7799 dt. 1st October 2009 from dated

26th August 2006 to 25th February 2007, 26th February 2007 to 25th February 2008,

26th February 2008 to 25th February 2009, 26th February 2009 to 25th August 2009,

26th August 2009 to 25th February 2010.

2. Now, the Governor of Bihar is further pleased that in order to complete the

enquiry, the commission requires further extention from 26th February 2010 to 25th

February 2011.

3. Now therefore, in exercise of powers conferred by the Section-3 of the said

Act, the Governor of Bihar is pleased to extend the period of commission of judicial

enquiry from 26th February 2010 to 25th February 2011.
