The 18th December 2019
No. 4/b1-10-05 /2011/H.P.-10900--In exercise of powers conferred under the proviso
of section 309 read with section 55 and section 94 of Bihar Police Act, 2007, the Governor
of Bihar is hereby pleased to make the following Rules to amend the Bihar Police Steno
Cadre Rules, 2017 (as amended from time to time) :–
1.
Short title extent and commencement.–(1) These Rules may be called the
“Bihar Police Steno Cadre (Amendment) Rules, 2019”.
(2) It shall extend to whole of the State of Bihar.
(3) It shall come into force with immediate effect.
2. Rule 5 (6) of Bihar Police Steno Cadre Rules, 2017 (as amended from time to
time) shall be substituted by the following:-
"Rule 5(6). Written examinations shall consist of two papers. First paper of 100
marks shall consist of 100 multiple-choice questions of General Hindi, in which
candidates have to secure minimum eligible 30 marks, otherwise they will be declared
unsuccessful. Duration of the examination of General Hindi paper shall be of one and

half hours and the marks obtained in General Hindi paper, shall not be included in
determination of merit."
3. Rule 5 (7) of Bihar Police Steno Cadre Rules, 2017 (as amended from time to
time) shall be substituted by the following:-
"Rule 5(7). Second paper shall consist total 100 multiple-choice questions on
the subject of General Knowledge and Current Affairs. Total marks of these paper will
be 200 and duration of the examination shall be 2 hours. 0.2 marks shall be deducted for
each wrong answer.
On the basis of marks obtained in written examination, candidates
shall be selected 6 times of the number of vacancies, reservation category wise. Test of
their eligibility shall be done according to the provisions of Rule 5(8). The
Commissions may reduce above percentage, in case of unavailability of successful
candidates in adequate number.
Answer sheets shall be in two sets, in which one set shall be kept as
reserve in the Commission."
