The 19 January 2021

No-8/B.2-10-20/2019/514—In exercise of the powers conferred under section 55

read with section 94 of Bihar Police Act, 2007 (Act 7, 2007) the Governor of Bihar is

pleased to make the following amendment in the Bihar Police Manual, 1978 with effect

from the date of issue of notification.

Sub-para (d) and (e) shall be inserted after proviso of sub-para (c) in Serial

no. 4(ii) of Appendix 72 of Bihar Police Manual, 1978, Volume-III as given below :-

" (d) Tenure of chairman and Members of the Board.- The tenure of the Chairman

and Members of the Board will normally be three years. The tenure of the

appointed/designated retired officer as Chairman shall be 3 (three) years or till he attains the

age of 68 (sixty eight) years, whichever is earlier;

Provided that, in special circumstances, the tenure of the Chairman or the member

may be further extended for such period as may be determined by the State Government;

Provided further that if the State Government is reasonably satisfied that

continuance of Chairman or any Member or all Members in the Board is against the public

interest or causing inconvenience in functioning of the Board, the chairman or and such any

other member or all members may be removed from their posts by the State Government

before the completion of the determined tenure.

(e) Age limit.- The maximum age limit for the appointment of a retired officer

as Chairman shall be 65 (Sixty five) years at the time of appointment."
