The Bihar Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Act, 2023
AN
Act
To amend the Bihar Panchayat Raj Act, 2006 (Bihar Act 6, 2006)
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Bihar in the Seventy Fourth year of the
Republic of India as follows :-
1.
Short title, extent and commencement:- (1) This Act may be called the Bihar
Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Act, 2023.
(2)
It shall extend to the whole of the State of Bihar excepting the areas to which the
provisions of the Patna Municipal Corporation Act, 1951 (Bihar Act XII of
1952) or Bihar & Orissa Municipal Act, 1922 (Bihar Act VII of 1922) or
Cantonment Act, 1924 (Act II of 1924) apply.
(3)
It shall come into force with effect from the date of its notification in the official
Gazette.
2.
Amendment in Section 60 of the Bihar Act 6, 2006:- Sub-section (1) of Section 60
of the said Act shall be substituted by the following:-
"(1) The Government shall appoint the Block Development Officer as Executive
Officer of the Panchayat Samiti."
