Legislative Council of the State of Bihar, elected by the members of Legislative Assembly

of the State are due to fall vacant on 28^th June, 2026 on retirement of those members, on the

expiration of their term of office as detailed below:

NOW, THEREFORE, as recommended by the Election Commission, in

pursuance of section 16 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), the

Governor of the State of Bihar is, hereby, pleased to call upon the Members of the

Legislative Assembly of the State, to elect Nine members to the Legislative Council of the

State, for the purpose of filling the above said vacancies, in accordance with the provisions

of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder.

सं. 322/ǐबहार-ǐव.प./2026(एम.एल.ए.)(1)- यतः, ǐबहार राÏय के राÏयपाल ने

लोक Ĥितिनिध×व अिधिनयम् 1951 (1951 का 43) कȧ धारा 16 के अधीन जारȣ और राÏय के

शासकȧय राजपğ मɅ 01 जून, 202+6 को Ĥकािशत अिधसूचना Ʈारा राÏय कȧ ǐवधान सभा के सदèयɉ

से यह अपे¢ा कȧ है ǐक वे राÏय मɅ ǐवधान पǐरषɮ के िलए नौ सदèय िनवा[िचत कर दɅ।

अतः, अब उƠ अिधिनयम कȧ धारा 39 कȧ उपधारा (1) और धारा 56 के अनुसरण मɅ

No. 322/BR-LC/2026 (MLAs) (1): - WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of Bihar

has, by notification issued under Section 16 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951

(43 of 1951) and published in the official Gazette of the State on 01^st June, 2026 been

pleased to call upon the members of the Legislative Assembly of the State, to elect Nine

members to the Legislative Council of the State: -

Now, therefore, in pursuance of sub-section (1) of Section 39 and Section 56 of the

said Act, the Election Commission hereby –

(A)

appoints, with respect to the said election –

(a)

the 08^th June, 2026 (Monday), as the last date for making

nominations;

(b)

the 09^th June, 2026 (Tuesday), as the date for the scrutiny of the

nominations;

(c)

the 11^th June, 2026 (Thursday), as the last date for the withdrawal of

candidatures;

(d)

the 18^th June, 2026 (Thursday), as the date on which a poll shall, if

necessary, be taken; and

(e)

the 20^th June, 2026 (Saturday), as the date before which the election

shall be completed; and

(B)

fixes the hours from 09:00 am to 04:00 pm, as the hours during which the

poll shall, if necessary, be taken in the State on the date specified above, for

the election.
