MUNICIPAL ADMINISTRATION & URBAN DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT – EXTENSION OF THE TERM OF SPECIAL OFFICER IN RESPECT OF SRIKAKULAM MUNICIPAL CORPORATION – ORDERS – ISSUED

NOTIFICATION
Whereas, the term of the Special Officer of Srikakulam Municipal Corporation expired on 11.04.2018. And whereas, Government is of the opinion that ordinary elections to the above Urban Local Bodies could not be held in accordance with the provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Municipalities Act, 1965, the Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporations Act, 1981, the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporations Act, 1994 due to prevailing situation in the light of bifurcation of A.P. State and also due to pending Court Cases in respect of Srikakulam Municipal Corporation.
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso under section (1) of section 62-A of the Andhra Pradesh Municipalities Act, 1965, and sections 14 and 17 of the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 1994, read with section 70 G of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act, 1955, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh hereby extends the term of the Special Officer of the Srikakulam Municipal Corporation for a further period 6 months from 11.04.2018 or till the elected body comes into office whichever is earlier.
