NOTIFICATION
No.1306/SEC-F1/2021-2 Date: 12.03.2021
In exercise of the powers conferred by Sections 9, 10 and 90 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1955 read with Section 7 of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Act, 1979 and Rule 3 of the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporations (Conduct of Election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor) Rules, 2005, the State Election Commissioner, hereby, directs the Election Authority & Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration, Andhra Pradesh to authorize District Collector or Joint Collector of the Visakhapatnam District to conduct election to the offices of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation in accordance with the procedure laid down in the said Acts and Rules and fixes the schedule for the said election in the Annexure appended to this Notification.

| 1. | Notice to be given in Form-II by the District Collector or Joint Collector of Visakhapatnam District authorized by the Election Authority calling for a Special Meeting for conduct of election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation. ( This Notice should be given to all the elected Members and Ex-officio Members of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation) | On 14.03.2021 |
| 2. | Date and time of the Special Meeting for the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation. | At 11:00 AM on 18.03.2021 |
NOTE:-
1. When an Election Notice is issued for conducting election of both the offices of Mayor and Deputy Mayor, no election to the office of Deputy Mayor is conducted unless the office of the Mayor is filled up. Only after completion of election of Mayor, the Presiding Officer shall conduct the election of Deputy Mayor (Sub-Rule 4 of Rule 6 of the election rules).
2. If for any reason election to the office of Mayor or Deputy Mayor is not held on 18.03.2021, it shall be held at 11:00 AM on the next day, i.e., on 19.03.2021 whether or not it is observed as a holiday by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation [Section 90(1) of Municipal Corporations Act, 1955 and first proviso to Rule 5 of the election rules].
