ORDER
It has been brought to the notice of the Government that dairy farmers are not getting fair prices from dairies to whom they are supplying milk , as the dairies are manipulating the testing instruments and further the instruments used by these units are not properly regulated due to inadequate enforcement staff in the department of Legal Metrology . At Present Legal Metrology Department officials are conducting inspections but due to less number of inspectors they are unable to cover the procurement centers at village level .
2. To protect the interest of farmers , extensive raids need to be organized to cover all procuring centers including the centers operated at village level . Animal Husbandry department having officers at District level , Divisional level and Mandal Level can attend to the inspections and will be able to organize raids extensively.
3. Now the Government after careful examination of the issue of ensuring fair prices to dairy farmers have decided to order to confer inspection powers under Legal Metrology Act 2009 and Rules 2011 to the officials of Animal Husbandry Department , so that the inspections can be organized extensively to protect the interest of farmers .
4. Accordingly , the following notification will be published in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette.
5. The Director , Animal Husbandry Department shall take necessary action in the matter.
NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred by sub- sections ( 1 ) and ( 3) of section 14 of the legal Metrology Act , 2009 ( central Act , 1 of 2010 ) , the Governor of Andhra Pradesh hereby appoints the Director , Animal Husbandry to be the Additional Controller of the Legal Metrology Department for the State of Andhra Pradesh and the Joint Director , Animal Husbandry to be the Joint Controller of Legal metrology , the Deputy Director , Animal Husbandry to be the Deputy Controller of Legal Metrology , the Assistant Director of Animal Husbandry to be the Asst. Controller of Legal Metrology , veterinary Assistant Surgeon of Animal Husbandry to be the Inspector , Legal Metrology for their respective jurisdictions for exercising the powers and discharging the duties conferred or imposed on them by or under the said Act with respect to the inspections in the Procurement of Milk .
