PUBLIC SERVICES – AMENDMENTS TO ANDHRA PRADESH MUNICIPAL ENGINEERING SERVICE RULES, 1977 – ORDERS – ISSUED.

NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section 80 of the Andhra Pradesh Municipalities Act, 1965 (Act 6 of 1965), the Government of Andhra Pradesh hereby make the following amendments to the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Engineering Services Rules, 1977 issued in G.O.Ms.No.595, MA&UD Department, Dated:22.09.1977, as subsequently amended from time to time.
AMENDMENTS
In the said rules,-
1. for sub-rule (b) of rule 3, the following shall be substituted, namely :
(i) By Direct Recruitment
(ii) Municipal Assistant Engineer (MAE) (Civil): By appointment by transfer from the categories of Technical Work Inspectors /Draughtsman/Public Works Maistry working in various Municipalities and Corporations with a minimum service of 5 years with Graduation in Civil Engineering or 8 years with Diploma in Civil Engineering only, after acquiring eligible relevant qualification prescribed in Rule 7.
Diploma in Electrical Engineering only, after acquiring eligible relevant qualification prescribed in Rule 7.Note : Vacancies in the cadre of Municipal Assistant Engineers shall be filled in the ratio of 4:1 for direct recruitment and for appointment by transfer respectively.
2. in rule 7, for the table along with the provisions there under, the following shall be
substituted, namely :

| (1) Municipal Assistant Executive Engineer. | A Degree in Engineering (Civil) or its equivalent qualification recognized by the Central UGC. |
| (2) Municipal Assistant Engineer (Civil) | A Diploma in Civil Engineering and above through an Institution recognized by AICTE, New Delhi. |
| (3) Municipal Assistant Engineer (Automobile/ Mechanical) | A Diploma in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering and above through an Institution recognized by AICTE, New Delhi. |
| (4) Municipal Assistant Engineer (Electrical) | A Diploma in Electrical Engineering and above through an Institution recognized by AICTE, New Delhi. |
Note 1: Diplomas/Degrees obtained through distance education mode are not eligible since AICTE, New Delhi does not recognize the technical qualifications obtained through distance mode.

Note 2: Provided that in any year of recruitment, 10% of the vacancies in the posts of Municipal Assistant Engineers (Civil) shall be filled in by the persons possessing Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Note 3: Provided that preference in recruitment shall be given to the persons possessing Degree in Engineering of the respective discipline or its equivalent qualification to the categories of posts Municipal Assistant Engineers (Automobile/ Mechanical) and Municipal Assistant Engineers (Electrical).
