Municipal Administration & Urban Development Department – Greater Vishakapatnam Municipal Corporation - No Confidence Motion carried with the support of two-thirds Majority in Smt. Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari, Mayor, GVMC - Removal from the Office of the Mayor -Notification - Issued.

Whereas, the Collector & District Magistrate, Vishakapatnam in his letter dt.19.04.2025 has informed that, as Presiding Officer, he has conducted the meeting at 11.00 AM on 19.04.2025 in the New Council Hall of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation for the consideration of Motion of No Confidence in Smt. Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari, Mayor, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation.
And whereas, the Collector & District Magistrate, Vishakapatnam has forwarded the Minutes of the Meeting together with the copy of the Motion and Results of voting as per Section 91 A (5) of AP Municipal Corporation Act, 1955 for consideration of the 'Motion of No Confidence' in Smt. Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari, Mayor, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation
Whereas, on perusal of the minutes, it is found that 74 members out of 111 members with voting rights participated in the meeting. As per the counting of votes, 74 Members of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation have voted in favor of the said Motion of No Confidence, and no member has voted against the said Motion of No Confidence and also no member has abstained from Voting.
As the Motion got approved by 74 Members and it meets the criteria of 2/3rd of the members of the Corporation as required under the Act, the Motion expressing No confidence in Smt. Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari, Mayor, GVMC is declared as passed.
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso under Section 91-A(6) of AP Municipal Corporation Act, 1955, the Government of Andhra Pradesh hereby remove Smt. Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari, from the office of Mayor, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, with immediate effect.
