NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred under section 585 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1955 (formerly known as GHMC Act, 1955), the Government, hereby, makes the following Amendment to the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporations (Fixation of Strength of Elected Members) Rules, 2005 and as amended from time to time:-

(ii). Following Provision shall be inserted under the table:
Provided that the number of Ward Members so fixed under this rule shall not be altered until the next succeeding census figures are published by the Central Government, except in cases of change of jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation or in case of up- gradation/Constitution of a Municipal Corporation.
(iii). Insertion of new Rules:
Rule 4:
Whenever the Strength of Ward Members of a Municipal Corporation fixed under Rule (3), the same shall take effect from the date of expiry of the term of the existing elected Body.
Rule 5:
Whenever, there is a change in Strength of Ward Members of Municipal Corporation, re- division of Municipal Corporation into wards as per the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporations (Delimitation of Wards) Rules, 1996 shall be taken on compulsory basis before conduct of ordinary elections to such Municipal Corporation.
