No. Law/Legn-3/2024.—The following Act of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly which was passed in the Thirteenth Session of the Seventh Legislative Assembly and received the assent of the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh is hereby published for general information.

THE ARUNACHAL PRADESH LOKAYUKTA (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2024

further to amend the Arunachal Pradesh Lokayukta, Act 2014 (Act No. 7 of 2014)
BE it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh in the Seventy-fifth year of the Republic of India, the following Act, namely,-
1. Short title and commencement :
(1) This Act may be called the Arunachal Pradesh Lokayukta (Amendment) Act, 2024.
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force with effect from 17th January, 2024.
2. In the Arunachal Pradesh Lokayukta Act, 2014 (Act No.7 of 2014), for sub-section (1) of Section 5, the following shall be substituted,-
"(1) The Chairperson and member shall, hold office as such for a term of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office and shall not be eligible for re-appointment thereafter.
Provided that-
(a) the Chairperson or the Member of the Lokayukta shall notwithstanding the expiration of his term, continue to hold office until his successor enters upon his Office or further extended period of six months at a time whichever is later but this extended period shall not in any case exceed one year;
(b) the Chairperson or the Member of the Lokayukta may, by writing under his hand addressed to the Governor, resign his office;
(c) the Chairperson or the Member of the Lokayukta may, be removed from his office in the manner provided in Section 37."
3. Repeal and saving : The Arunachal Pradesh Lokayukta (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024 is hereby repealed.
Notwithstanding such repeal any action taken under the Arunachal Pradesh Lokayukta (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024 shall be deemed to have validly taken under the corresponding Section of this Act.
