No. HAD. 265/2011/79 . - Whereas , the term of the present Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council will expire on 13th January, 2017 on completion of five years term ofthe Council .
Whereas, the State Election Commission , Assam has informed that, it will not be practicable to hold the election to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council before 13th January, 2017 due to unavoidable circumstances arising out of publication of the Electoral Roll on 31.12.2016 .
Now, therefore , the Governor of Assam , in exercise of powers conferred as per Paragraph - 2 , (6A) of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India , is pleased to extend the term of the said Council for a period of six months with effect from 13th January, 2017 or till the date of 1st sitting after completion of the fresh poll to the KAAC to be conducted by the Assam State Election Commission , whichever is earlier.
