I am directed to say that it has come to the notice of Government that important notification having bearing on statutes and matters of immediate public interest are sometimes published in the Official Gazette on date much later than prescribed. Government have decided, therefore , to introduce the following system with immediate effect , which must be strictly adhered to in sending notice to the Assam Government Press for publication in the official Gazette .
1. In the first instance , it has to be noted that the printing of the weekly Gazette must be completed by the end of every Tuesday so that it may be duly published on every Wednesday .

Every notification and every other matter which is required to be printed and published in a particular issue of the Official Gazette must, therefore , reach the Deputy Director, Assam Government Press on the Monday of the week preceding the week in which it is required to be published. If this is not done it is infrictuous requesting the Deputy Director , Assam Government Press to publish such notification or other matter in the next issue of the Gazette , the expression usually inserted in all endorsements made to the Deputy Director.
3.Wherever it is necessary to print and publish a notification on a specified date ( excluding such Notification or communicate as are to be published in Gazette extraordinary) clear instruction ofthat effect must be given to the Deputy Director , Assam Government Press , both on the body of such notification within the indication at the top in the red ink and is a separate covering.
4. To achieve the objective in papers 2 and 3 , it is essential that proper discretion should be exercised by the concerned officers in the Department or office and all matters for publication in the Gazette should scrutinised and sent to the Press after careful application .
5. As for publication of any matters in a Gazette , Extraordinary, the existing procedure whereby the prior approval of the General Administration Department is to be obtained will continue .
I am to request you to acknowledge the receipt of this letter and confirmed that the instructions have been duly voted . If you have suggestion on this behalf they may please be communicated .

The Library is entirely closed on the Republic Day , Independence Day and Mahatma Gandhi's birth day on the 26th January, 15th August and 2nd October every year respectively.
Persons not less than 18 years of age are eligible to use the Library . Both the Reading Room and the Lending Section are free to be used by any one residing in any part of the India Dominion . There is no subscription to pay but only security is each essential for borrowing books.
