1. In the first instance, it has to be noted that the printing of the weekly Gazette must be completed by the end of every Tuesday so that it may be duly published on every Wednesday.

2. Every notification and every other matter which is required to be printed and published in a particular issue of the Official Gazette must, therefore, reach the Director, Assam Government Press on the Monday of the week preceding the week in which it is required to be published. Journal/historical and antiquarian subjects. The premises of the Samiti, situated on the southern bank of the Dighali Tank, Gauhati, remains open from 2 p. m. to 5 p. m. on all days except Monday and Gazetted and local holidays or which it remains closed.

The Reading Room at Belvedere and the Lending Section of this Library are open on all working days from 9 a. m. to 8. p. m. and from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. on Sunday and holidays notified by the Library and the Second Saturday of every month.

The Reading Room at Esplanode is open on all working days from10 a. m. to 5 p. m.

The Childrens Wing at Belvedere remains open on all working days from 3 p. m. to 6 p. m. and Sundays and Holidays from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. for the children between 5 and 14 years.

The Library is entirely closed on the Republic Day, Independence Day and Mahatma Gandhi's birth day on the 26th January, 15th August and 2nd October every year respectively.

Persons not less than 18 years of age are eligible to use the Library. Both the Reading Room and the Lending Section are free to be used by any one residing in any part of the India Dominion. There is no subscription to pay but only security is each essential for borrowing books.
