I am directed to say that it has come to the notice of Government that important notification having bearing on statutes and matters of immediate public interest are sometimes published in the Official Gazette on date much later than prescribed. Government have decided, therefore, to introduce the following system with immediate effect, which must be strictly adhered to in sending notice to the Assam Government Press for publication in the Official Gazette.

[PART IX 394 THE ASSAM GAZETTE, SEPTEMBER 4, 20242. Every notification and every other matter which is required to be printed and published in a particular issue of the Official Gazette must, therefore, reach the Director, Assam Government Press on the Monday of the week preceding the week in which it is required to be published. If this is not done it is infructuous requesting the Director, Assam Government Press to publish such notification or other matter in the next issue of the Gazette, the expression usually inserted in all endorsements made to the Director.
3. Wherever it is necessary to print and publish a notification on a specified date (excluding such Notification or communicate as are to be published in Gazette extraordinary) clear instruction of that effect must be given to the Director, Assam Government Press, both on the body of such notification within the indication at the top in the red ink and is a separate covering.
4. To achieve the objective in papers 2 and 3, it is essential that proper discretion should be exercised by the concerned officers in the Department or office and all matters for publication in the Gazette should scrutinised and sent to the Press after careful application.
5. As for publication of any matters in a Gazette, Extraordinary, the existing procedure whereby the prior approval of the General Administration Department is to be obtained will continue.
I am to request you to acknowledge the receipt of this letter and confirmed that the instructions have been duly voted. If you have suggestion on this behalf they may please be communicated.
