NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 13th February, 2001
G.S.R 95(E).—Whereas in the wake of the earthquake in Gujarat, the availability of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has been affected in meeting the demand of North-West India due to shut down of Fluidized Catalytic Cracker Unit (FCCU) 0 f R cliance Petroleum Limited (RPL), Jamnagar and also due to damage to Indian Oil Corporation Limited's LPG import terminal at Kandla.
And whereas to meet this situation, it has been decided to import LPG at the storage system of RPL, Jamnagar for movement lo North-West India by Rail/Road/Jamnagar-Loni LPG pipeline;
And whereas, the imported LPG is being brought into the storage system of RPL, Jamnagar where the LPG produced by Crude Distillation Units of RPL, Jamnagar is also being brought and on account of this mixing of the two products, it would be difficult to adhere to the BIS specification No. IS 4576 of the LPG despatches from RPL's storage system on jiccount of lowering of the vapour pressure specification;
Now, therefore, in pursuance of clause 15 of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order. 2000 the Central Government in consideration of the difficulties caused by earthquake in Gujarat which affected the supply of LPG ;ind in the public interest hereby exempts the LPG despatches from RPL, Jamnagar from BIS specification relating to vapour pressure, fora period up to 15th March, 2001 or for a period of one month from the date of receipt of last 1 ,PG i mport parcel at RPL, whichever is earlier subject to the condition that the vapour pressure of co-mingled product being despatched by RPL would not be less than die vapour pressure of the commercial Butane received through imports on Government Oil Companies' account
