A severe Earthquake of the magnitude of 6.9 at Richter Scale occurred at 8.46 A.M. on 26th January, 2001 with epicenter at 20 K.M. North-East of Bhuj Its impact was felt in various parts of the country. Gujarat has been affected very everely,causing colossal loss of human lives and properties.
