S, 0, 169(E).—In pursuance of section 67 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), the following declaration containing the name of the candidate elected to fill the vacancy in the Council of States is published for general information:-

Bye-election to the Council of States by the elected members of the Legislative Assembly of Punjab.
"In pursuance of the provisions contained in section 66 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, read with clause (a) of sub-rule (1) of rule 84 of the Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961,1 declare that—
Sukhbir Singh V. & P.O. Badal, District Muktsar, (Punjab) sponsored by Shiromani Akali Dal has been duly elected to fill the vancancy caused in that House by the seat of Sardar Barjinder Singh Hamdard having being declared vacant in accordance with provisions of clause (4) of Article 101 of the Constitution.
