F. No. 2(l)/97-R&C.—Pursuant to the recommendations made by the Twelfth All India Whips' Conference held at Srinagar in August. 1997. a Monitoring Group was constituted vide this Ministry's notification of even number dated 7lh April. 2000 (published in the Gazette of India, Part I. Section 1—No. 79 dated 8th April, 2000) to watch the progress of implementation of the recommendations made by the Twelfth All India Whips' Conference and the views expressed in its plenary session. It was stipulated vide para 1 of the above mentioned notification that the Monitoring Group will finalise its Report within a period of one year from the date of its first sitting.

2 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA: EXTRAORDINARY [PART I—SEC. 112. The first meeting of the Monitoring Group was held on 17-5-2000. The term for the Monitoring Group was extended by one year w.e.f. 17-5-2001 to 16-5-2002 and which was further extended by three months w.e.f. 17-5-2002^0 16-8-2002. Therefore, the Monitoring Group was to finalise its report on or before 16th August, 2002.
3. As ihc Monitoring Group is likely to take more time to finalise its report, the term of the Monitoring Group is hcrcb) extended by a further period of six months with effect from 17-8-2002.

Member of Rajya Sabha and Chief Whip of BJP in Rajya Sabha has been appointed as a member of Monitoring Group constituted to watch the implementation of the recommendations of the Twelfth All India Whips Conference notified vide this Ministry's Notification No. 2(l)/97-R&C dated 7th April, 2000.
